Daniel Swayze
About Daniel:
Dr. Swayze’s piano playing has been described by the Jacksonville Review as, “Enchanting….crisp and impressive.” After an unusually late start on piano at the age of 14, Daniel began lessons with pianist Barbara Parker. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Southern Oregon University in 2011 with a degree in Piano Performance, having received all of the department’s highest honors and awards. Daniel has studied primarily with Dr. Alexander Tutunov, Mark Westcott, and Gregory Allen and has performed in master classes with such artists as Jon Nakamatsu, John Perry and Nelita True. Noteworthy performances include appearances as soloist for Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band and the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Southern Oregon University Symphonic Band, as well as an appearance in Carnegie Hall with the ensemble Siskiyou Violins. He has also been featured in the Austin Chronicle and the Texas Standard and performed on KMFA Radio. Daniel completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin in 2014 and achieved his Doctorate at UT in Piano Performance with a Portfolio in Arts Management in 2019. In his spare time he enjoys reading, cooking, swing dancing and, of course, beer. Daniel Swayze is Isabel Certified.
